Geographic position

This property is located in Melpignano, also known as “Borgo della Taranta” (the village of the Taranta). It is also one of the nine municipalities where you can listen to people speak Griko, the dialect of Italiot Greek spoken in Salento (province of Lecce) and Calabria.

Melpignano is also included among Italy’s authentic villages. It is surrounded by olive groves and pastureland, and it’s also known for its quarries of Leccese stone.

Ballata del Sole is located in the centre of Melpignano, a few steps away from Palazzo Marchesale De Luca and the Mother Church.

We are in the heart of Salento, 26 km from Lecce and 21 km from Otranto, meaning a 20-minute drive. Gallipoli and Brindisi are 36 km and 67 km away, respectively. This means that they can be reached in about forty-five minutes.

The nearest airports are Brindisi (77 km, meaning less than one hour and fifteen minutes away) and Bari (195 km, meaning about 2 hours away).
